Chico News & Review Endorses Jim; Slams LaMalfa
In two articles published on 10/20/2016, the Chico News & Review endorsed Jim Reed for CA Congressional District 1 and slammed Doug LaMalfa for spreading false information about Planned Parenthood.
From the second article, by Melissa Daugherty:
"It’s worth listening to [the League of Women Voters of Butte County's website], if only to hear the incumbent congressman [LaMalfa] spreading fallacies about Planned Parenthood, such as the thoroughly debunked claim that the nonprofit is, as he put it, “known to be the seller of baby parts.”
The fact that LaMalfa continues to spread this misinformation means that he believes his constituents are stupid. His insistence that he’ll keep voting to defund the organization—despite the fact that no federal funding pays for abortions—signals that LaMalfa doesn’t care whether those in the district have access to low-cost health services, such as pap smears and birth control. LaMalfa calls himself pro-life, but taking away options for family planning leads to unplanned pregnancies—and, thus, abortions. LaMalfa isn’t pro-life, he’s pro-propaganda. Unsurprisingly, he’s not getting this newspaper’s endorsement. Neither is his understudy, Assemblyman James Gallagher."

Slimy mailers show LaMalfa's true colors
"Four months have passed since the congressional primary. Yet my shock and anger have not ebbed over incumbent Doug LaMalfa’s libelous, hit-piece mailers attacking rival candidate Joe Montes. The two four-page pieces, sent to thousands of voters to discredit Montes, depicted him as a participant in fraud and criminal activity, a “Washington lawyer” out to “steal” the election. Outlandish figures depicted him as dishonest and deceitful, citing as “proof” litigation that had nothing to do with Joe. . . .
By resorting to despicable tactics, LaMalfa revealed his true character as a deceptive, indecent politician. Upon reviewing his pathetic garbage, veteran political analyst Ed Rollins rated it among the most contemptible he’d seen in years. Here in our rural communities, we should expect better. The town of Richvale and the LaMalfa family should hang their heads in shame over the slimy tactics of their homeboy. To honest observers, it’s quite apparent LaMalfa is the fraud.
Should we send him back to Congress? Or maybe vote our conscience for a change?"

What a perfect match. Let's make sure neither of these guys get elected in November!
